This listing is for the original Pentax 67 wooden handle grip (Version 1). This is the classic, early design that provides the necessary leverage for handling the weight of the 6×7 system while adding a dedicated mounting point for external accessories.

These early version grips are essential for ergonomics. If you have ever used a Pentax 67 for an extended period, you know that the “Texas Leica” can be a handful. This grip allows for a more natural hold while providing a secure mounting shoe on top.

ITEM ONE: PENTAX 67 WOODEN HANDLE GRIP V1

This is the genuine wood and metal grip designed for the Pentax 6×7 and 67 camera bodies. It mounts securely to the lugs on the left side of the camera, completely transforming the shooting experience.

The design features a polished wood handle that is contoured for the hand, paired with a heavy-duty metal bracket. It is built to withstand the rigors of professional use and provides a much-needed balance when using heavier lenses like the 105mm f/2.4 or the 165mm.

Condition and Performance

  • Function: Perfectly functioning. The mounting mechanism is solid with no play or wiggle once attached to the camera. The cold shoe on top is tight and ready for a flash unit or trigger.

  • Cosmetics: The grip shows signs of a life well-lived. There are minor scuffs and marks on the bottom of the metal bracket from being set down on surfaces. The wood itself is in great shape with no deep gouges or cracks.

  • Usability: Works great. It makes the camera significantly more comfortable to hold for portrait orientation and provides the perfect anchor point when using a flash.

HOW IT ENHANCES THE SYSTEM

The Pentax 67 is famous for its “mirror slap” and substantial weight. By adding this grip, you gain a secondary point of contact that stabilizes the camera against your body or hands, which is critical when shooting at slower shutter speeds.
